Romain Grosjean - "Typical of Haas" not to bring upgrades
Romain Grosjean has spoken about the recent struggles of Haas F1 Team, using his previous experience with the American squad to analyse their current situation, as another disappointing weekend in Canada pushed the team down to the 9th in the constructors' standings.
Speaking to gpfans, Grosjean described the lack of upgrades for the VF-22 as very typical of the team:
"Mick probably wants to do what Kevin did earlier in the season with fifth places and some points, but at the moment, the car can't do that because there have been no updates.
This is very typical for Haas. You start well, and it goes backwards. I know it all too well.
If you go for fifth place and want to score points, which Mick is trying right now, you are definitely going to make mistakes. You have to take your time. Sometimes slower is faster."
Grosjean was the first driver to score points for Haas in F1, leading the team in their first year in the series before the arrival of Kevin Magnussen, playing an integral role in their progression.
Unfortunately for Haas, they have failed to replicate the efficiency from their 2017 and 2018 season, regressing to the unforced errors, mistakes and poor development that characterised their failed 2019 campaign.
Guenther Steiner has named the Hungarian GP as the most likely even where Haas will bring their upgrade package, but with the American squad already slipping down the order, these upgrades may arrive too late.
Regardless of upgrades, the team must prioritise improvements ot their generally sloppy operational handling of things in 2022.
