Mercedes has been through some changes recently. Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton made a surprise move to Ferrari, creating a need for reshuffling within the team. In response, Mercedes promoted young Andrea Kimi Antonelli to join George Russell for the current season.

After leaving Mercedes in 2021, Bottas joined Sauber. However, his tenure there was less successful, with a challenging season last year where he failed to score any points. Sauber decided not to renew his contract, resulting in Bottas returning to Mercedes. Now back with the team he knows so well, Bottas is determined to use his vast experience to support Mercedes in 2025.

Speaking about his return, Bottas explained:

“I couldn’t be happier to be back with Mercedes. It feels like I’m home. It’s been great to catch up with former colleagues and I’m really looking forward to helping the team both on and off the track. As Third Driver, I will be at every Grand Prix providing support and that extra set of eyes. I will also be at the factory helping develop the car in the simulator too. I can’t wait to get started.”
