What F1 Fans Should Expect From The McLaren MCL60 Car Reveal For 2023 Season
The McLaren F1 team is set to reveal the MCL60 later today (February 13) at 5pm GMT. Here's what we know so far.
How Will The MCL60 Be Revealed?
The team will be revealing the MCL60 on a YouTube live stream. According to the YouTube page the teams new driver line-up, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, will feature in the event. It is currently unclear as to whether we will see new team principal Andrea Stella in the event.
McLaren posted to their website:
"Coming to a screen near you, from the team who brought you 1997’s MP4-12 launch with The Spice Girls and Jamiroquai, and 2007’s MP4-22 launch at a Street festival in Valencia, is the 2023 McLaren Formula 1 Team Launch.
"Whilst we can’t promise you the Spice Girls or a European Street festival (the world has moved on a bit since then), we can guarantee you the first look at our 2023 Formula 1 car and an appearance from our new driver pairing, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. And let’s be honest, that’s what you’re all here to see."
Sponsor Changes
McLaren parted ways with Gulf at the end of 2022 and many fans have questioned whether this might result in a slight change in colour schemes for the MCL60 livery.
What Have We Heard So Far About The MCL60?
The team have kept rather quiet about their 2023 contender. However, they released some sneak peek images earlier today which show a lot of exposed carbon fibre, a theme we are seeing with the liveries that have already been released this year.
What To Expect From McLaren In 2023
McLaren are heading into the 2023 season with a new rookie driver Oscar Piastri as well as a new team principal Andrea Stella.
It was revealed during 2022 that eight-time Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo would be parting ways with the team at the end of the season. Shortly after the Woking-based team confirmed they had signed on fellow Australian driver Piastri as his replacement.
The team finished in fifth place in the constructors' championship in 2022, 14 points behind Alpine. McLaren will be looking to be closer to the top three, Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari, in 2023.
On top of this, as Norris heads into his fifth season with the team, many fans are hoping to see the Belgian-Dutch driver at the top of the podium for the first time this year.
Next 2023 Car Reveal?
The next reveal is only a couple of hours after McLaren's with Aston Martin revealing their AMR23 at 7pm tonight.
The next important F1 date for you to put in your calendar is Tuesday 14 February for the Ferrari 2023 car reveal. The team will be revealing the 2023 car at 11:25 CET/ 12:25 GMT.
