It has been reported that Alpine and Aston Martin are two of the three teams which are thought to have exceeded the cost cap for 2022.

Rumours continue to swirl despite the recent statement from the FIA confirming that the process is still ongoing and there is no news of any breaches at the moment.

According to a report from Formulapassion.it, "Some teams have already received the OK from the FIA", leading many to believe the other teams are in danger of a breach.

The report states that two teams who are thought to have exceeded the cost cap in 2022 are Alpine and Aston Martin, the latter of which had a small breach in 2021 which led to a fine of $450,000. The article explains:

"Two teams seem to be indicated by many as potential suspects: Alpine and Aston Martin."

The Italian publication also hints that the third team to have breached the budget is thought to be either Red Bull or Mercedes.

This is all just speculation at this stage with no confirmations. The news of Red Bull's infamous breach in 2021 came out around October last year, however, it is likely that we will know much sooner regarding the 2022 season.

With all the talk of potential breaches flooding the paddock, many drivers and team chiefs are claiming that the punishments for Red Bull were not enough to deter teams from exceeding the cost cap. The Austrian team were handed a $7 million fine as well as a 10% reduction in wind tunnel time for 2023.
