Familiar Names Dominate Select Stallion Stakes, Chickasaw
Chickasaw, Oklahoma was the home of some intense barrel racing action March 21-24 when the Select Stallion Stakes rolled into town.
The barrel incentive, Select Stallion Stakes hosted their $50,000 added Breeders Futurity. This was open to four and five-year-old horses that are sired by the nominated stallions in Select Stallion Stakes.
The futurity was chalked full of fan favorites that also dominated the average leaderboard.
Winning the overall average and claiming the Select Stallion Stakes Futurity Champion was American Rodeo winner, Brandon Cullins.
Just because he won $1.1 million last month, Cullins is not slowing down. Cullins and the horse, Good Things Comin' who is by The Goodbye Lane and out of a Mr Honor Bound mare, smoked two stunning patterns to run a combined time of 30.35 seconds and won $5,985 in the average.
It was a race against himself for Cullins as he also claimed the reserve Futurity Champion on Seis Shots of Beauty, the incredible stallion by Tres Seis and out of the NFR-mare RC Back N Black. This duo ran a combined time of 30.39 seconds and won $4,725.
Cullins truly is a force to be reckoned with in the barrel industry.
Right behind Cullins’ two stand-out horses was everyone’s favorite blonde stallion, Adios Pantalones and Tricia Aldridge. Getting into the thick of breeding season isn’t slowing this team down, and with their third-place average win of $3,780, they have officially crossed over the $200,000 mark for earnings.
“I am super proud of how solid he is staying and how good he is on the road,” said Aldridge. “I own nothing but mares and everything is ready to be bred, but he’s a gentleman.”
The popular team has now earned over $205,000 out of their $300,000 goal. Aldridge and Adios have placed in every single average payout they have competed in.
Talk about showing up and putting in the work.
