It’s “Take Your Bull To Work Day” for Dana White
If any UFC employee wants to see their boss Dana White’s bull compete at the PBR Team Series Championship next weekend, it’s on him.
White offered to buy tickets for anyone at UFC eager to watch Twisted Steel in action at the new league’s second Championship in T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday October 21.
He’s that pumped up about his new bucking bull, who is half the equation of the most exciting 8 seconds in sports and was shown off at a special ceremonial weigh-in at UFC headquarters in Las Vegas on Friday.
White once tried to ride a bull in Texas, lasting 3 seconds while narrowly avoiding a nasty stomping.
Most humans would run like hell from a close call like that; White got hooked on bull riding. He’s now the proud owner of one of PBR’s rankest bulls, who he purchased from Bryce Cooper.
Twisted Steel has off bucked 29 of 31 of the riders who have attempted him, for a very respectable average bull score of 43.
While some bulls are friendly as a schnauzer jumping on your lap when the TV goes on, Twisted Steel’s surly disposition meant the crew setting up a pen at UFC headquarters had to bring in extra reinforcing steel.
Rather than tear the joint down, Twisted Steel behaved himself, tipping the scales at a slim 1,400 pounds.
“He came all the way from Texas and was cutting weight to make sure he’s sharp for the playoffs,” joked PBR Announcer Matt West, who officiated the ceremonial stunt.
Compare that to 2,400 pounds of muscle from UFC fighters including Sean Strickland, Miesha Tate, Jessica Andrade, Vanessa Demopoulos, Maycee Barber, Brad Tavares, Sergei Spivac, Cody Stamann, Ode Osbourne, Dan Ige, and Jamahal Hill, bolstered by two Power Slap Super Heavyweights, Makini Manu and Hayden Southall.
West, like White was all smiles in showing off one of the marvelous animal athletes of PBR to those unfamiliar with America’s original extreme sport.
“To see someone who’s as successful as Dana White share a love and passion for professional bull riding is inspiring and reminds me why we love this sport so much,” West said.
Middleweight champion Sean Strickland was attracted to the challenging danger of lasting 8 seconds on a specimen like Twisted Steel. He said he wants to attempt a bull.
That’s not about to happen, according to White.
For now, Strickland will get a new limited-edition Dana White’s Twisted Steel T-shirt along with a standing offer for a seat inside T-Mobile Arena to experience a sport you have to see to believe.
