New Breakaway Roping Arena Record Set at Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo
Breakaway Roping, the thrilling and rapidly growing rodeo event, lived up to its reputation at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo (FWSSR) on Tuesday evening. Danielle Lowman set an arena record at the FWSSR in the Dickies Arena by completing an impressive run in just 1.6 seconds.
When asked about her run, Lowman said, “Believe in yourself and give it your all.”
Jackie Crawford, famously known as the “Queen of Breakaway,” had a 2.2-second run on Tuesday night. Crawford is a million-dollar winner at the 2023 American, the WPRA All-Around Champion in 2023, and she currently holds the second position in the world standings for breakaway roping. Not to mention, Crawford is the rodeo “hero” of my wife.
The semifinals at the FWSSR will include Lowman and Crawford, along with the following athletes:
Willow Wilson, who is currently ranked No. 1 in the world standings, Lari Dee Guy, who has eight world titles, and Martha Angelone, who finished third in the 2023 world standings.
Another familiar name in the semifinals is Kelsie Domer from Dublin, Texas, who finished sixth in the 2023 world standings.
Ricki Fanning, who finished 14th in the 2023 standings, and Bradi Good, who is currently ranked 13th in the world, will also compete in the semifinals.
The FWSSR Breakaway Roping semifinals will be rounded out with the following athletes:
- Madison Outhier
- Bailey Bates
- Jordan Jo Hollabaugh
- Jordi Edens
- Braylee Shepherd
- Jill Tanner
The wildcard round, starting Wednesday evening, will see some familiar names as well. Joey Williams, who finished seventh in the world in 2023, will be joined by Sarah Angelone, who finished fourth in the world in 2023.
The other athletes joining them in the FWSSR wildcard round will be:
- Shai Schafer
- Shaya Biever
- Peggy Garman

The FWSSR has several nights of excitement still to come in 2024 – especially in breakaway roping.
