GUTHRIE, Okla. — The 40th CINCH Timed Event Championship hosted by the Lazy E ranch has its new champion.

"New" is a relative word as Paul David Tierney, this year's champion and "Ironman", already has multiple to his name.

Tierney walked away with the $100,000 grand prize after scoring a 322.8 seconds aggregate (on 25 head). The South Dakota cowboy came into the final go-round with the lead and was widely regarded as the favorite to take home the win.

Barring a collapse.

Tierney ended up closing the deal by finishing third in the aggregate for the final round, all while adding another $1000 to his weekend winnings.

In second place was Nelson Wyatt with a 338.3-second aggregate. The Alabama cowboy took home $35,000 for his performance. It was an excellent year to take second as the prize money for the runner-up increased by $10,000 this year over previous years.

Wyatt also won the final round aggregate and took home $3,000 in additional earnings after a 51.9 second round.

Rounding out the evening was Marcus Theriot who took second in the fifth round aggregate with 55.2 seconds, earning him a $2,000 check.

Here is how the final standings shaped out:

  1. Paul David Tierney, 322.8 seconds, $100,000
  2. Nelson Wyatt, 338.3 seconds, $35,000
  3. Cody Doescher, 385.3 seconds, $15,000

  5. Erich Rogers, 386.5 seconds $7,500
  6. Dylan Hancock, 391.3 seconds, $5,000
  7. Thomas Smith, 393.8 seconds, $4,500

2023 champion Cody Doescher came close to repeating but fell just short and took home third place. His performance earned him $15,000 on top of his previous round earnings of $3,500 bringing his total to $18,500 on the weekend.

Overall, it was an incredible weekend for the athletes and fans alike at the Lazy E. Between the top facilities, staff and atmosphere, CINCH and the Lazy E continue to put on top-tier events in the Western sports world.
