As kids growing up, many of us had professional sports trading cards. The coveted star player cards and even holographic specials were treasured. Some of the cards ended up being worthless, while others brought fortunes to the owners. Kids kept three-ring binders of plastic-protected cards and showed them off at show and tell. Now, better late than never, pro rodeo has joined the ranks. What better role model could you give your kids than a cowboy? The Cowboy Channel has partnered with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association to offer new 2023 NFR Athlete Trading Cards for sale.

Offering you a chance to have a piece of history, the inaugural year of trading cards is offered for $149.99 plus shipping. Inside, you will find over 150 cards showing off the top 15 contestants in each of the eight NFR events. You can collect them year after year, trade them, or even use them to get your favorite cowboys' and cowgirls' autographs at your local rodeo.

The featured athletes are proud to be a part of the new cards.

In an interview, Riley Webb said, "I think they are a great idea. I have autographed some, and I'm excited for them to be for sale. I can't think of a better set of people to have your kids look up to than the cowboys and cowgirls featured."

One of the greatest parts of the sale of the cards is that they benefit the cowboys and cowgirls along with 10% of the gross sales going to the Trenton Montero family.

Montero, a 2019 NFR cowboy, passed away on Aug. 30, 2023, following injuries he sustained during a bareback ride on Aug. 10 at the Owyhee County Rodeo in Homedale, Idaho. The cowboy was just 31 years old and leaves behind his wife, Maria, and newborn infant son, Noah, who was born July 26. The family made their home in Jerome, Idaho.

Since the untimely passing of the bareback riding champion cowboy, many funds have been set up to help the family. This is another way the cowboys and cowgirls chose to help, along with offering a way for the public to join the efforts.
