History Is Made as Kosel Puts Together Legendary Run For NFR Round 5

Summer Kosel, the Round 2 runner-up, has claimed her first win of the 2023 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo had an electrifying Round 5, kicking off at the Thomas & Mack arena. 

Summer Kosel lit up the entire arena with the very first run of the night in the Thomas & Mack. After Kosel made her run, everyone around knew, that was the winning run. 

Kosel won the round with a 2023 NFR high, 13.42-second trip around the barrels to make her first trip to the South Point Casino & Hotel for the buckle ceremony. 

Kosel also broke the Round 5 record tonight for the NFR. Beating previous record holder Emily Beisel's record of 13.43 back in 2021. 

Kosel was so close after the second round, coming runner-up to Stevi Hillman by just .01 seconds. 

Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi fell into the second-place spot during Round 5 with a 13.58-second run, .16 seconds behind Kosel. 

Kassie Mowry and Hailey Kinsel made a horse change during Round 5. Mowry switching to Famous Ladies Man "Emmett", she has been riding CP He Will Be Epic "Will" up until this round.

Kinsel switched up to Slick N Black "Spatch" a black mare out of RC Back in Black, she has been riding DM Sissy Hayday "Sister".

Tonozzi also broke the single-season earning record after tonight, beating previous holder, Hailey Kinsel.

Kaleb Kistner is from New Braunfels, a small community nestled in the Texas Hill Country. There’s only one “s” in Braunfels! Growing up in Comal County, it was an annual tradition to attend the Comal County Fair and Rodeo. Down the road was the San Antonio Stockshow and Rodeo, that his grandparents would religiously take him to each year. Along with the annual rodeos, Kaleb was an active member in FFA throughout high school. Showing rabbits and pigs, assisting with steers and goats, and participating in leadership development events, Kaleb received a well-rounded, basic education in agriculture. On top of that, Kaleb earned his Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America. Kaleb has a strong work ethic and love for agriculture and the great outdoors. He hopes to be able to spread his knowledge and bring a better understanding of the Western way of life to those who may not understand. Kaleb has pursued a career in plumbing, continuing to achieve each possible license as quickly as he can. Kaleb has a beautiful fiancée Makayla and his sweet daughter Kinleigh. During his down time, he and his family enjoy going to their parents’ ranches to spend time with the family.
