The 2024 PRCA season began Oct. 1, 2023 and standings were finally posted mid-November. Quite a few familiar faces from the 2023 standings returned to the top early. 

2024 PRCA Tie-Down Roping Standings

Shad "Money" Mayfield is currently positioned in the number one spot. Mayfield finished second at the Texas Circuit Finals and punched a ticket to the NFR Open. Mayfield also finished second at the Cook Rodeo Days.

John Douch, the number two cowboy on the standings won the Texas Circuit Finals and the Waller County Rodeo. Douch who was No. 13 in the 2023 standings is making his third consecutive trip to the NFR this year. 

Chance Thiessen is young cowboy just getting started. Thiessen won the Wilderness Circuit Finals and placed second at the Cinch Roping Fiesta. Thiessen was also a stand-out roper at Shane Hanchey's Invitational.

Joel Harris is another young cowboy making a statement early. Harris won the the Columbia River Circuit Finals. Harris also placed high in a couple rounds at the Cinch Roping Fiesta. 

Caleb Smidt is no stranger to being up at the top. Smidt has earned four world championships in tie-down roping and qualified for the NFR ten times now. Smidt gained an early advantage with his win at the Cinch Roping Fiesta.

The 2024 PRCA season is only getting started and should be an interesting one to follow this upcoming year.

Kaleb Kistner is from New Braunfels, a small community nestled in the Texas Hill Country. There’s only one “s” in Braunfels! Growing up in Comal County, it was an annual tradition to attend the Comal County Fair and Rodeo. Down the road was the San Antonio Stockshow and Rodeo, that his grandparents would religiously take him to each year. Along with the annual rodeos, Kaleb was an active member in FFA throughout high school. Showing rabbits and pigs, assisting with steers and goats, and participating in leadership development events, Kaleb received a well-rounded, basic education in agriculture. On top of that, Kaleb earned his Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America. Kaleb has a strong work ethic and love for agriculture and the great outdoors. He hopes to be able to spread his knowledge and bring a better understanding of the Western way of life to those who may not understand. Kaleb has pursued a career in plumbing, continuing to achieve each possible license as quickly as he can. Kaleb has a beautiful fiancée Makayla and his sweet daughter Kinleigh. During his down time, he and his family enjoy going to their parents’ ranches to spend time with the family.
