SEGUIN, T.X. - Some people would say "there is something in the air", at the end of the second night of the 140th annual Guadalupe County Fair and Rodeo. It was definitely an electric atmosphere Friday night in that arena. With new leaders in four events and one cowboy tying for that number one spot.

Bareback Riding

Taylor Broussard, No. 18 in the world last season, topped the leaderboard with an 83-point ride on Lancaster & Cude Pro Rodeo's Smoke Jacket. Broussard was the only cowboy to ride last night.

Steer Wrestling

Four athletes gave it their all tonight, but unfortunately only Jacob Edler was able to get his steer down with a 16.3-second run. With there being only one other qualified run in the rodeo, this puts him in the number two spot.

Tie-Down Roping

Ace Slone roped his way into a first place tie with an 8.4-second run. Word Hudson put himself in the number five spot with his 9.3-second go. The last athlete to make an impression tonight was Tristan Mize and his 9.9-second effort.

Breakaway Roping

Every cowgirl that participated tonight gave it their all. But with multiple broken barriers and times that were so close, there was no activity on the leaderboard in this Friday tonight.

Team Roping

B.J. Dugger and Cash Duty put on a show tonight with an impressive 4.0-second run to put their names at the top of the leaderboard. Heath Kocurek and Cody Kohleffel earned their way into the number three spot with their 4.8-second effort.

Saddle Bronc Riding

Parker Kempfer put his name on the number one spot tonight with his 79-point ride on Rocky Mountain Rodeo's Sand Burr. Cody Ballard was right behind him with a 78-point ride and put himself in the number two spot.

Barrel Racing

Abby Phillips and her horse made an exhilarating 14.98-second trip around the barrels. That didn't put her in first but it did put her in the number two spot. Preslie Reid also made her mark when she tied for fourth with her 15.20-second run.

Bull Riding

With no qualified rides last night, tonight's field was open. Elijah Mora made it clear he means business with his 87.5-point ride on Lancaster and Cude Pro Rodeo's Downtown. Following behind him was Wyatt Rogers and his 87-point ride. Lastly, Hayden Harris put himself in the number three spot with an 83.5-point ride.

The Guadalupe County Fair and Rodeo will conclude on Saturday night. There is still lots of room for movement throughout the leaderboard and will be interesting to see how Saturday night plays out.
