Eirikson Steals Saddle Bronc Show at Maple Leaf Circuit Finals

Sawyer Eirikson outlasted more experienced riders to win the saddle bronc title on aggregate at the Maple Leaf Circuit Finals.

Sawyer Eirikson claimed the Saddle Bronc title at the Maple Leaf Circuit Finals in Regina, Saskatchewan, on Saturday.

After a slow start in October, as Eirikson only finished in the money once in five rides in the U.S., he headed back to his native Canada and shared a victory in two of the four rounds and claimed third place in another round.

With his four-round aggregate score of 326 points, he took home the top prize, with Lucas Macza and Dawson Dahm sharing second place. Manza was the overall circuit champion for the season.

Eirikson’s win over Macza was a bit of an upset. While Eirikson joined PRCA in 2023, Macza has been a member since 2021 and he won four rodeos last season and finished No. 30 in earnings for 2023.

Eirikson shared the second-round victory with Kyle Wanchuk, as each finished with an 85-point ride. In the final round, Eirikson shared the victory with Macza, as each finished with an 82.5-point ride.

Macza won the third round with an 82.5-point ride, while Tyrel Roberts won the first round with an 83.5-point ride. Eirikson, Macza and Dahm tied for third place in that first round.
