Sterling Crawley finished fourth in the final go-round in Saddle Bronc riding but hung on to win in the average and take his second career Texas Circuit Finals title on Friday in Waco, Texas.

The seven-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier finished in the money in each of the rodeo’s four performances, won one round and walked away with a total of $8,572 to get an early jump on 2024 NFR qualification.

The Stephenville, Texas, native won this event in 2012.

Crawley has been building toward a win in the past month, with a third-place finish at the Cinch Playoffs in Puyallup, Wash., and the third in the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls, S.D., which wrapped up the 2023 season.

Crawley had a healthy lead going into Friday’s final round and finished with an 83.5-point ride. He finished behind Logan Cook, who won the round with an 86-point ride on Stace Smith Pro Rodeos' Cricket, followed by Parker Fleet’s 85-point ride and Brandon Lansford’s 84-point ride.

Cook’s ride wasn’t enough to overtake Crawley. But it was enough to keep Cook in second place overall with an average of 326.

Isaac Diaz and Brandon Lansford each finished third in the average with 317 points. Diaz won the second round with an 85.5-point ride, while Lansford never won a round but placed consistently high in each round.

Crawley and other Saddle Bronc riders are done in Waco as many of them will ride in the Heart O'Texas Fair & Rodeo on Saturday.
