Before the National Finals Rodeo started in Las Vegas, a bareback rider that had a great week could shake up the standings and potentially make a charge at the No. 1 spot in the world by the time things end.

After the first two days of competition, the cowboy who made that charge was Rocker Steiner.

He dazzled in Round 1 after riding horse Risky Business to a score of 87.0 and winning the first day of the event.

Steiner then took it up a notch in Round 2.

He delivered a sensational ride on the horse named Mustard that earned him a score of 88.5 and a victory in his second straight night.

Nathan Meyer, a photographer with Sports Illustrated's Rodeo Daily, captured his ride that is the highest-recorded score so far at the NFR, tied with Mason Clements' 88.5 during Round 3.

Steiner used these two rounds to sit No. 1 in the aggregate scoring after two rounds with a score of 175.5. His two victories also catapulted him up to No. 2 in the world standings behind Keenan Hayes.

A couple more good runs for him this week and he could challenge Hayes for the top earner in the PRCA standings.

However, two rough nights in Rounds 3 and 4 have stunted the momentum that Steiner had built early on.

Following two consecutive runs of scoring a 75.0 and under, the leading Cowboy has now fallen to 12th place in the aggregate scoring. He still holds onto the No. 2 spot on the earnings list, but his journey to track down Hayes at the top has become much more difficult.

Steiner will have plenty of more opportunities to get things turned around this week and start delivering scores that he recorded during the first two days of the NFR.
