Western Sports Media Announces Sponsorship with Steer Wrestler Don Payne

Western Sports Media LLC, a partner of Sports Illustrated's Rodeo Daily and Men's Journal's Cowboy Culture, has announced their sponsorship of NFR Steer Wrestling Average Champion Don Payne.

ROYSE CITY, Texas – Western Sports Media LLC, a partner of Sports Illustrated's Rodeo Daily, a FanNation channel, is announcing a sponsorship of Don Payne for the 2024 rodeo year. 

Payne was the NFR Steer Wrestling Average Champion at the 2023 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, presented by Teton Ridge.

Throughout the 2023 season, Payne travelled from rodeo to rodeo and won enough to secure the 15th spot in the world and earn his way to the NFR. At the NFR he wore back number 119, the last number among NFR athletes. Prior to his NFR debut, Payne had earned $84,611 in the world standings. 

Arriving at the NFR, Payne had no sponsors and a slick shirt. With something to prove, Payne earned money is six rounds, won the average title and earned a total of $133,568 at the NFR. This was more than his total lifetime earnings.

In regards to the sponsorship, Payne commented, "I'm blessed and excited to work with such a great team of people. They are giving me a huge opportunity and opening doors as my first sponsor."

Western Sports Media LLC, a family owned and operated business, is contracted with The Arena Group and runs Sports Illustrated's Rodeo Daily and Men's Journal's Cowboy Culture

Payne expects to compete in major rodeos this season such as San Antonio, Houston, Denver and Fort Worth, along with numerous others as he pursues another NFR appearance. We will see you there!
