Who Made the CINCH Timed Event Championship's First Cut?
The 40th annual CINCH Timed Event Championship is underway at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla. It's a three-day event in which 25 cowboys compete in five events to include heading, tie-down roping, heeling, steer wrestling and steer roping.
Their times are added together after each go-round and after the second go-round the fielded dwindles to 20. Those 20 then participate in two more go-rounds before the field is reduced to 15. The final 15 cowboys then compete in the final round, which takes place on Saturday evening.
The top cowboy is crowned the "Ironman" and will take home a $100,000 check. Second place earns a $35,000 check, a $10,000 increase from 2023.
With the first two go-rounds complete, the first cut has been made and just 20 athletes remain as we head into the Friday evening performance.
Here is where the field currently stands:

The first two rounds were full of excitement as the reigning 2023 champion Cody Doescher is sitting in sixth place. The Oklahoma City cowboy had an excellent second round, earning $3,000 for a top finish of 57.7 seconds (on five head) that helped place him near the top of the leaderboard.
Also of note, Clayton Hass, who currently sits in 12th, led the way in the first round, earning $3,000, and was off to a stellar second round until he lost his rope on his heeling run. That mishap earned the Weatherford, Texas native a 60-second penalty and dropped him down the leaderboard.
Now, these 20 cowboys will battle it out for two more rounds as they vie for one of the final 15 spots in the championship go-round taking place on Saturday evening.
