Kimzey Wins LJ Jenkins Bullriding Tour Championship Bull Team
The third annual LJ Jenkins Bullriding Tour Championship concluded at Resorts World Las Vegas.
With an impressive $250,000 payout, the daysheets were filled with PBR riders and up-and-coming champions. The event is sure to grow in the future, with rumors of a Cowboy Channel broadcast possibility next year.
National Finals Rodeo qualifier and PBR Champion Trey Kimzey took home the $50,000 prize and first place bull team with "390 Top Shelf" scoring 91 points with PBR rider Boudreaux Campbell aboard.
Kimzey's second bull "99G Ricky Vaughn" bucked Wacey Schalla off at 4.81 seconds, but still brought an average score of 22.67. Together the team brought 192.14 points for Kimzey.
Mason Taylor's team came in second winning $30,000. PBR World Champion Daylon Swearingen rode "6X4 Walkin Tall" for 7.41 seconds averaging 21.67 points. Austin Richardson covered "8X2 Dang Dang" for 89.5 points. The team scored a total of 190.08 points.
CCC and Foreman took third place with "141H Fearsome" and Alex Marcillo's impressive 90-point ride. Joao Lucas assisted the win with his 86-point ride on "O65 Knockout." CCC and Foreman were the top team with both bulls covered for 189.33 points.
Coming in fourth were Sho-Me Rodeo and Burkham. Top rider of the event Dalton Kassel spurred the hair off "930F Not Yet" for 91.5 points. Gabriel Morais bucked off "2003 Red Bull" at 1.52 seconds, still averaging 22.25 points. Together the team brought in 187.85 points.
Close behind in fifth with 187.67 points were Barrett and Cash Money. Both bulls were covered for 87.50 points. Jeter Lawrence rode "D10 Cooter Brown" and Ernie Courson covered "801 Left Eye Lopez."
In its third year of production, the LJ Jenkins Bullriding Tour has quickly turned into the premier bull team event in the nation. The large payout and experienced riders are sure to bring the heat for spectators and competitors.
The crew bucked roughly 65 bulls in each two-and-a-half-hour performances with only one chute for each delivery. LJ's big brother Dustin "The Jester" Jenkins kept the crowd entertained, and the addition of Tyler Taylor on the microphone added some insight to the arena alongside veteran announcer Brandon Wren.
