When two like-minded individuals come together with a plan to change the world of barrel racing and revolutionize the industry as we know it, ventures like 4M Equine Ranch are born. Darrell R. Martin and Kylee Scribner first started making noise back in October 2023 with their purchase of a few big-time horses at the inaugural Pink Buckle Horse Sale. Since then, they have put their plans into action and have made big things happen for their new venture.

The partnership’s goal to invest in the future took another step forward on February 9 when they announced their purchase of the 2016 mare Teasin Dat Guy, better known as Chewy. This mare needs no introduction, as she is the second-highest-earning offspring of legendary sire, Frenchmans Guy.

Piloted by Molly Otto of Grand Forks, ND, Chewy has lifetime earnings of over $428,000. The team holds titles such as WPRA Futurity World Champion, Reserve Champion in the Average at the NFR as a 5-year-old, and the Reserve Championship at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2023.

Scribner noted that they were drawn to the mare by her outstanding performance record and breeding to match, but she wasn’t sure if they would be able to get her bought. When the opportunity arose to purchase the mare, she said they just couldn’t pass it up.

Under the new ownership of 4M, Chewy will be integrated into the groundbreaking breeding program they have built up and she will begin to compete under the 4M jockeys in 2024. If the stars align, Scribner says she would love to be back on the rodeo road. For now, though, she will focus on the futurities and the super shows with her elite team of performance horses.

The main goal of the 4M’s breeding program is to breed the most sought-after and elite crosses in the industry. They look for daughters of well-known stallions who have proven themselves in their respective events when adding to their program. Scribner says that they have definitely run into some naysayers along the way but that it won’t stop them from working towards a common goal with everyone in the industry.

“Realistically, there’s room for everyone in this industry. We’re here for the same reason as everyone else, and that is to raise the next generation of World Champions.” -Kylee Scribner

4M Equine Ranch will have the grand opening of their state-of-the-art facility by having a 5D barrel race on March 23-24, 2024. This barrel race already has $10,000 in added money and will be giving away prizes along with a free breeding to Epic Leader in 2024 or 2025.

The facility will be equipped with amenities such as a covered arena, cold water spa, water walker, theraplates, acuscope services, and more. They hope to host events open to the public as well as roping and barrel racing clinics for World Champions and professionals to share their expertise. Be on the lookout for more information about this venture and any more horses 4M may add to their lineup in 2024.
