Country music star Cody Johnson showed off his impressive team roping skills at the Mathews Land and Cattle World Series of Team Roping Qualifier held Feb. 15-18 in Hamilton, Texas.

Johnson, who is well-known for his hit songs such as "On My Way to You" and "Dear Rodeo," teamed up with Ricky Oliver from Huntsville, Texas, to secure the top spot in the #7 WS Qualifier.

Together, Johnson and Oliver roped three head in a combined time of 26.53 seconds, with Johnson on the head side and Oliver on the heel side. Their victory earned them a prize of $13,060 and a qualification to the World Series of Team Roping Finale, scheduled for Dec. 7-15, 2024 at the South Point Hotel & Casino arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Johnson, having grown up on a ranch in East Texas, is no stranger to the rodeo scene. He started out bull riding in high school rodeo and picked up team roping several years ago after being introduced to 2020 World Champion Colby Lovell.

Despite his busy schedule of concerts on "The Leather Tour," we may still see Johnson at other jackpots.

It's worth noting that Johnson and Oliver were not the only big winners at the Hamilton WS Qualifier, as the event paid out more than $529,000 across 14 different divisions.
