Oklahoma's Richest Calf Roping Offers Opportunities For All
Oklahoma's Richest Calf Roping is coming back to the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla. for its fourth year. Hosted by CN Productions, the event can be summed up by its name, though it includes many other perks.
The event has $30,000 added across the calf and breakaway ropings for all ages. Additionally, the open tie-down is eligible as an American Rodeo qualifier, same for the ladies open breakaway plus a Rope For The Crown qualification. These sidepot qualifiers are optional. All youth events are eligible as Junior Patriot qualifiers from ages 12 and up.
Encouraging roping calves as a family affair, Oklahoma's Richest offers classes for youth as soon as they can swing a loop. Keeping the competition fair, kids must enter classes based on their age the day of the roping, though they are allowed to rope in the older classes if they feel they are ready.
Each roping will include three rounds, advancing the top-ten in the average to a final round. Contestants are only allowed one entry in each roping. However, this provides youth another opportunity against more experienced competition, if they choose to move up an age division in a separate entry.
Saturday will also showcase a ten-head match between National Finals Breakaway Roping qualifiers Martha Angelone and Josie Conner. It will also feature National Finals Rodeo qualifiers Haven Meged and Riley Webb of the tie-down roping.
Keeping it classy, there will be a western dress code enforced across every roping. Prizes include buckles, rope cans, saddle pads and jackets across all ages. Entries will be taken for each roping until the previous roping begins the third round.
Oklahoma's Richest Calf Roping is set to run Oct 13-15 at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla.
