Texas A&M Rumored to Be Courting George Strait for Kyle Field Bash
George Strait is not just a country music legend but the "King of Country" itself. After 60 No. 1 hits over a 33-year career, Strait was thought to hang it up with one final tour in 2014.
Instead, the cowboy didn't ride away, and the legend has been on the road, albeit selectively, for the last decade.
The King has a nine-stop tour scheduled for 2024, and, oddly enough, none of the stops are in Texas, the state he calls home.
However, that could change with a new rumor swirling around that Texas A&M could be pursuing Strait to play at Kyle Field on June 15, according to The Eagle.
Kyle Field holds over 102,733 people, and it would easily be one of the largest venues Strait has ever performed in his career. A stadium fit for a king. In Texas, no less.
As George Strait was cutting his teeth in the music industry in the 1970s and 80s, he played in venues across Texas for college students, such as Gruene Hall in New Braunfels for Texas State students. He also played at the Blue Bonnet Palace in Selma, which attracted the San Antonio crowd. And, of course, he played throughout College Station and Bryan for the Texas A&M students.
Returning to his roots, albeit on a much larger stage, would be fitting for the 71-year-old star as he enters the twilight of his career.
Strait nor his team have confirmed if this concert will take place, but the Aggies are sure pulling out all the stops to bring the King of Country to their doorsteps.
