With the new NFL season kicking off tonight, one of the most iconic and irreverent sports culture brands on the planet made a splashy signing. Reebok and Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields have announced a long-term partnership.

The announcement comes as the official start of Reebok’s long-term strategy of reclaiming its position in team sports, one that will include the expansion of its athlete roster, greater presence within sports culture, and the introduction of new performance footwear and apparel offerings suited for the field, court, and beyond.

Fields has built a dedicated fanbase that looks up to the dual-threat quarterback thanks to his exciting playstyle and unmatched charisma. As part of the exciting announcement, FanNation Kicks spoke with Fields about his new partnership, affinity for the brand, and vision for the future.

As a kid, you admired Reebok athletes like Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal; how does it feel to join that exclusive club?

"It's awesome and, of course, a big honor. Especially following those guys and seeing how much impact those guys had back in the day. A.I. and Shaq, those were the guys back in the day.

So, really, just following in their footsteps is a huge honor, and I'm blessed to be in the position. So I'm excited to join up with Reebok, and I know they are, too. So this partnership has really been good so far, and I'm really looking forward to it getting even better."

Reebok wanted you for its re-emergence and expansion into sports. How did this partnership come together?

"I think it was a little bit of both. I was actually one of the only athletes to not sign with a Nike or adidas. So, it formed kind of organically. That's what made it 10x better. It was definitely mutual interest, and it kind of clicked right away.

They presented their plans for the future and expansion. After seeing that presentation, I saw how dedicated they were to making a big splash back into the sports world, so why not come to such a historic brand like Reebok? So I'm definitely excited for the future, and I know they are, too."

What are some of your goals for this new long-term partnership?

"Really trying to get Reebok's name back into the sports world. It was so big back in the day there were not too many other brands competing with them. They were kind of out of it, but now they want to get their feet wet a little bit in the sports world.

So, I'm here to help with that. Not only get it revamped in the sports world but back in the community too. So we're doing different things like giveaways and different things like that so we can impact the community in a positive way too."

Without giving away too much, what can you tell us about the Reebok FloatZig 1?

"The FloatZig 1 - I've felt it, tested it, and definitely excited about it. I can't tell you too much, but just know that they are very comfortable. Just running-wise, they are very comfortable, and you get a nice bounce to it too. So I'm excited for those to drop."

What is your favorite Reebok sneaker to wear off the field?

"I've got to go with the Question Mid. The A.I.'s are classics. I actually wore them at a kid's game yesterday. But they have so many different options to choose from. You can never go wrong with the classic models and tracksuits. But I would have to go with those two if I had to choose right now."

Before the official announcement, Reebok joined the Justin Fields Youth Camp, an initiative built to give children of the Greater Chicago area unique summer break experiences filled with fitness and fun.

In tandem with Reebok apparel donations, Reebok has also pledged to help fund the camp’s growth and continuation. Fields will also work closely with Reebok to amplify and evolve its Human Rights Now! platform, a long-term ‘product with purpose’ commitment by Reebok designed to inspire human rights and human movement for all.

This season, Fields will be integrated into a variety of digital and social creative content that highlights the partnership’s energy and breadth from fitness to lifestyle. In SS24, Reebok will lean into Field’s running prowess and on-field speed by tapping the football phenom to front its most highly anticipated running shoe release of the year, the FloatZig 1.
