Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has put the NBA on notice this year. Not just with his play, but with his brash trash talk on a series of provocative sneaker advertisements for adidas.
In December, adidas launched the first installment of Edwards' signature sneaker line - the adidas AE 1. Billed as "your favorite hooper's favorite hoop shoe," the model features a bold and distinct TPU upper, full-length TPU-encased Jet Boost technology for cushion, and an enlarged herringbone outsole for superior traction.
Earlier today, adidas officially unveiled the three newest colorways of Edwards' signature sneakers. Each shoe costs $120 in adult sizing and will be available on the adidas website as well as select retailers. Below is a detailed look and story behind each of the upcoming colorways.
adidas AE 1
The first colorway is the arctic blue and black 'New Wave' which was released earlier today and sold out immediately. The 'New Wave' colorway captures Edwards' revolutionary gameplay along with his team colors.
When you’re on a path to lead the next generation in basketball, the last thing you’re worried about is getting caught up in someone else’s wave. New Wave is Edwards’ declaration to always lead, never follow.
Secondly, we have the white and black 'Best of Adi' colorway. The 'Best of Adi' is a true representation of adidas’ signature black and white colors and will be released on March 1.
Black and white is a staple colorway for iconic adidas Basketball shoes. 'Best of Adi' pays homage to the past while looking to the future with hits of neon green unique to the AE 1.
Lastly, we have the 'Velocity Blue' colorway which releases on March 8. The shoe draws inspiration from Edwards' favorite color and the brightest most intense blue adidas has as a brand, the green feature is a nod to the early Timberwolves era.
