Few, if any, brands have embraced player partnerships with NCAA athletes like adidas. Since changes were made to allow athletes to benefit from their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL), adidas has teamed up with top talent from all over the country.

On Wednesday morning, adidas announced the signing of Texas A&M Aggies basketball forward Janiah Barker to the brand’s growing NIL roster. Today’s signing reflects a continued commitment by adidas to supporting student-athletes and empowering the next generation of athletes.

Barker arrived at Texas A&M for the 2022-2023 NCAA basketball season as a McDonald’s All-American Alumni and the third-ranked recruit in the country. She is considered the highest-ranked recruit to ever sign with the Aggies.

Barker led the Lady Aggies last season with a team-high 12.7 points per game and was the lone freshman in the SEC to pace her team in scoring. This season, she is averaging 12.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game and helped her team make it to the SEC Tournament quarterfinals.

"I couldn’t be more blessed to be a part of the adidas family," said Barker. "They have taken me in with open arms and shown me love since day one. I’m so excited to be on this journey and inspire the next generation with the three-stripe community."

Athletes and fans who want to stock up on Texas A&M Aggies gear ahead of March Madness can shop the school's entire collection on the adidas website. The selection includes apparel, jerseys, and sneakers.

Fans can expect to see Barker proudly representing the three stripes in various marketing endeavors in the near future. The signing of Barker is yet another example of adidas' continued commitment to women and equity in sports.

Adidas believes long-term equity in sports starts with investment, and it remains committed to doing just that by continuing to support its university partners and investing in student-athletes who are shaping the future of sports.
