Air Jordan 13 'Playoffs' Drops Today
On Friday, Michael Jordan celebrated his 60th birthday. However, it is the NBA legend who is treating fans to a rare sneaker release to celebrate the exciting weekend. During the 1998 NBA All-Star Game, Jordan debuted the Air Jordan 13 in the 'Playoffs' colorway.
Fast forward 25 years later, and the iconic sneaker is near the top of every list as one of the best hoop shoes of all time. Luckily for fans of the GOAT, the Air Jordan 13 'Playoffs' releases today at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time for $210 in adult sizes on Nike's website.
Air Jordan 13 'Playoffs'
The Air Jordan 13 was the first model from Jordan's legendary sneaker line to release under the newly-formed Jordan Brand. The previous fall, Jordan took part in a star-studded announcement in New York City, where he introduced the shoe, brand, and the new roster of signature athletes.
While the Chicago Bulls embarked on their "Last Dance," Jordan wore the Air Jordan all the way to the 1998 NBA Finals, where he defeated the Utah Jazz in stunning fashion.
Despite being over 25 years old, the Air Jordan 13 still is capable of performing at the highest levels of competition. Many people consider the old-school hoop shoe a lifestyle sneaker, but its technology still holds up to this day. Below is everything fans must know about the tech specs of the Air Jordan 13.
Details
The Air Jordan 13 'Playoffs' features a black upper consisting of genuine leather in a quilted design. Meanwhile, premium nubuck wraps around the heel counter and mid-foot overlay.
The cushion is provided by a phylon midsole with an encapsulated Zoom Air unit in the forefoot and heel. The white rubber outsole (inspired by a panther paw) is highlighted in fired red and contains outsole pods strategically placed to optimize traction and flexibility.
As always, there is plenty of tasteful branding and callbacks throughout the shoe's design. The Jumpman logo appears on the tongues, while a reflective cat's eye emblem appears on the ankle and outsole.
The Air Jordan 13 'Playoffs' will not last long online, so fans should not hesitate to pick up a pair of one of the most recognizable basketball shoes of all time. Stay locked into FanNation Kicks for more news, analysis, and interviews.
