Before the start of the NBA season, adidas embarked on one of the boldest marketing campaigns in sneaker history. In the leadup to the release of Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards' first signature sneaker, adidas unleashed an aggressive series of advertisements that called out other players' signature sneakers and their brands.
In one of his multiple ads, Edwards described the AE 1 as "your favorite hooper's favorite hoop shoe." With hype at an all-time high and the holidays quickly approaching, Edwards' signature sneaker line officially launched earlier this morning.
The AE 1 officially launched in the "With Love" colorway on Saturday, December 16, for $120 in adult sizes. Online shoppers can purchase the hoop shoes on the adidas website and select retailers, including Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and Kids Foot Locker. Below is everything athletes and fans must know about the performance basketball shoes.
adidas AE 1
The AE 1 stands as one of the most futuristic designs in the history of adidas Basketball, tailored to exceed on-court performance expectations and meticulously crafted to meet the exacting specifications of Edwards, the embodiment of the game's future.
The AE 1 features a Generative Supportive Wing, a TPU design that provides stability and containment, enabling athletes to play explosively in all directions while ensuring mid-foot breathability. The full-length TPU-encased Jet Boost technology offers an enhanced experience with smaller energy capsules fused together for greater energy return and cushion.
Inspired by Edwards' dynamic playing style and unstoppable athleticism, the AE 1 was designed to accommodate his unique movements on the court, enhancing his agility and power. Meanwhile, the "With Love" colorway pays a heartfelt tribute to Edwards' mother and grandmother by highlighting their favorite colors, peach and pink.
Edwards is one of seven basketball players with a new signature sneaker line launched in 2023. But his shoe's bold design and unapologetic marketing make it stand out in a crowded field. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your sneaker news from the sports world.
