Not many players in hoops history have enjoyed a more meteoric rise in popularity than Austin Reaves. After going undrafted, the unheralded shooting guard ended up excelling for the Los Angeles Lakers and the United States Men's National Team. Even better, Reaves is making waves in the sneaker industry.

Reaves originally signed with Rigorer in 2022, becoming the company’s first NBA athlete. Next, he signed a signature sneaker deal with Rigorer in June 2023. Today,  the two partners have announced another contract extension that makes Reaves a shareholder in the Chinese sneaker company.

The multi-year deal is reportedly worth more than seven figures per year, plus royalties from sales of his signature product. As an equity partner of Rigorer, Reaves will also earn a substantial amount of shares throughout the lifetime of the contract.

To celebrate, Rigorer is releasing the Rigorer AR1 'Milky Way' colorway, symbolizing Reaves' career achievements and the festive season. Below is everything athletes and fans must know about the upcoming sneaker release.

Online shoppers can purchase the Rigorer AR1 'Milky Way' at 11 a.m. EST on Friday, December 8, 2023. The sneakers will be sold exclusively on the KICKS CREW website and app as well as the Rigorer website for $100 in adult sizes.

The purple and teal 'Milky Way' colorway is an apt analogy for the superstar shooting guard. Few players can rise to the level of Reaves, and the sky is the limit for the 25-year-old baller. Fans who miss the highly anticipated sneaker drop can choose between other exciting colorways like the 'Ice Cream, 'Stars & Stripes,' and 'Showtime.'

"I’m proud to continue this partnership with Rigorer. The team is incredible, and we’ve developed a signature shoe that I’m proud to put my name on, representing both high performance and accessibility. The team has welcomed me like family, and I will always appreciate them for believing in me at this early stage of my career." - Austin Reaves

Reaves' global popularity has reached new heights over the past year, and there is no sign of him coming back down to earth anytime soon. Fans wanting his signature sneakers should act fast, as they will only become more difficult to buy at retail price.
