Curry 1 Retro 'Black History Month' Available Now
The 2022-23 NBA season has been another historic campaign for Stephen Curry. The reigning NBA Finals MVP has led the Golden State Warriors with roughly 30 points per game and has done it in style.
Throughout the season, Curry has laced up a mix of new and retro basketball shoes on the hardwood. Curry has played in his tenth signature shoe, the Curry Flow 10, and older fan-favorite models from his legendary signature line.
To celebrate Black History Month, Curry and Curry Brand are releasing a rare colorway of the Curry 1 Retro. The performance model takes inspiration from the true story of Lewis Latimer—the Black inventor who improved Thomas Edison’s light bulb in 1881. The design honors Latimer and other Black trailblazers everywhere who have played an important role in shaping history.
Curry 1 'Black History Month'
The Curry 1 Retro 'Black History Month' is available now in full-family sizing on the Curry Brand website. Fans can also view Curry Brand’s latest release, the Curry Flow 10, in 'Iron Sharpens Iron,' 'Sour Patch Kids,' 'Treasure Island,' 'Northern Lights,' 'More Magic,' and 'Curryfornia' colorways.
Curry was initially drawn to Latimer because of his interest in technology. After reading about Latimer, the 9x NBA All-Star gave the Curry Brand design and innovation team the opportunity to take the concept and run with it.
The 'BHM' colorway features subtle nods to Latimer’s work bringing light to all. The heartfelt tributes include a light bulb on the tongue pull tab and reflective upper and a dotted design resembling circuit boards.
Long-time Curry fans will remember this colorway was originally a player-exclusive in 2015 before enjoying an Asia-exclusive release in 2021. However, this is the first time the colorway will make its global debut.
When it comes to basketball shoes, Curry and Curry Brand stopped playing fair long ago. Their blend of top-notch technology and exciting colorways has changed the game for good. While Golden State gears up for another championship run, now is the perfect time to purchase rare shoes from Curry's iconic collection.
