Devin Booker Starts Beef With Shaq Over Sneakers
Mark Twain once said, "Never pick a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel." I am here to say never pick a fight with NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal. The most dominant player ever also has the longest memory and is not afraid of confrontation.
During a recent episode of Sneaker Shopping, O'Neal made another pitch to Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker to leave Nike for Reebok (where O'Neal and Allen Iverson are President and Vice President of the Basketball division).
This time, it went over less smoothly with Booker. The four-time NBA All-Star took to his Instagram story and said, "AI 'question' was cool. But nobody wearing no **** Shaqs." Check out the Instagram post below for screenshots and O'Neal's pointed response.
It did not take long for O'Neal to respond in the Instagram comments, saying, "Shaq shoes sell way more than them d books and I was talkin about @reebok but if u wanna b one of a thousand b my guess. Shaq 450 million pairs sold google me."
O'Neal is correct. His Reebok sneakers were a smash hit in the early 1990s and are often highlighted as one of the best hoop shoes in the golden era of basketball and sneakers. Plus, his Shaq-brand shoes at Walmart are essential for many families shopping on a budget.
Conversely, Booker's launch colorway was limited to 500 pairs. Then, at NBA All-Star Weekend, he celebrated his Nike sneakers selling out within 2-3 minutes. So, are fans wearing more Shaqs or Bookers?
Something tells us O'Neal Reebok will not let this go, and this sneaker beef is far from over. Stay tuned to FanNationKicks.com for all the latest sneaker news from the sports world.
