One of the most disheartening stories in basketball over the past few years has been the health saga of Lonzo Ball. The Chicago Bulls point guard has not played in an NBA game since January 2022. Even worse, Ball has already been ruled out for the entire upcoming season.

Of course, Lonzo was heralded as the next generational point guard from his father, LaVar Ball. However, even Magic Johnson co-signed the idea shortly after the Los Angeles Lakers drafted the Chino Hills legend after one college season with the UCLA Bruins.

In addition to trash-talking on his son's behalf, LaVar spearheaded a family-owned sneaker business. After a splashy start in 2017, Big Baller Brand has mostly gone downhill as it has suffered setbacks, including legal issues, quality control problems, and Lonzo ditching his signature sneakers in October 2019. Even the Lakers front office blamed the shoes for Lonzo's injury history.

However, a family reunion might be in the works. On Monday, Lonzo appeared in an Instagram video promoting the brand's latest footwear. "It's Lonzo Ball here. Bringing to you live the BBB x GENEGG slipper that just came out. Just came out. Very comfortable, and you can see the colorway goes nicely."

Lonzo continued, "I just got out of knee surgery, and I'm walking around fine in them. They feel great, and I'm happy they're on my feet." An important distinction made by Lonzo was that he called the footwear "slippers," whereas LaVar referred to them as "shoes" in a previous social media post.

Regardless, it's doubtful Lonzo will wear any Big Baller Brand shoes on an NBA court ever again. But it is good to see a family standing by each other and Lonzo with a smile on his face. Stay tuned to FanNationKicks.com for all your footwear news from the sports world.
