Most basketball fans over 30 years old will remember former NBA player Mike Bibby as an integral part of the bitter rivalry between the Sacramento Kings and the Los Angeles Lakers in the early 2000s.

But Bibby is far more than that. He came from basketball royalty and was one of the most authentic sneakerheads in basketball history. In a recent interview on the Knuckleheads podcast, Bibby shared stories from his time as a Jordan Brand athlete.

Bibby explained how he was turned off by brightly-colored PUMA gear and leaped at the opportunity to wear Jumpman on the court. The sneaker icon went into further detail, explaining how easy it was to receive player-exclusive Air Jordan sneakers.

Bibby would call his Jordan Brand representative and say, "Hey, I need these," and they would arrive the next day. "It was that simple. However many shoes you want to play in and stuff. Like I said, it was never no."

Bibby recounted requesting low-cut versions of unreleased sneakers. Co-hosts Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles added that Bibby was the first to do that and was responsible for future versions of low-cut Air Jordans getting released to the public.

While we will never have that level of access to Jordan Brand, it has never been easier to purchase Air Jordan sneakers in OG colorways. Online shoppers can check out the Air Jordan section on Nike's website. Stay locked into FanNation Kicks for all your sneaker coverage.
