MLB Players Receive Air Jordan 11 Father's Day Cleats
Just as elite athletes never take a day off, neither do sneaker companies. While most people used Father's Day as an opportunity to relax and celebrate, Jordan Brand turned up the heat on the summer holiday.
Now that MLB has the stage to itself for the next few months, the league's players and their respective brands are showing off. Yesterday, a small group of players sponsored by Jordan Brand debuted what might be the best cleats of the season so far.
According to Ryan Smith, the player-exclusive designer of Jordan Brand, four players received rare Air Jordan cleats. San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado, Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts, Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and injured Miami Marlins center fielder Jazz Chisholm Jr.
The cleats are inspired by the Air Jordan 11, one of the most popular basketball shoes from Michael Jordan's legendary signature sneaker line. However, the Father's Day colorway is a first in Jumpman history.
The player-exclusive colorway features a baby blue upper highlighted by royal blue patent leather wrapped from the heel to the toe box. The white laces, midsole, and Jumpman logo complete the look of the heartfelt kicks.
This is not the first time Jordan Brand has celebrated important dates with rare cleats. On April 15, MLB athletes representing Jordan Brand debuted player-exclusive cleats for Jackie Robinson Day.
Chisholm is the latest addition to Jordan Brand's roster of MLB players, and all eyes are on New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge as the next potential player to join the Jumpman ranks. Hopefully, Chisholm and Judge both get healthy soon so we can see them create more highlights in player-exclusive gear.
The MLB season is not even halfway over yet, so there will be plenty more stories to come. Stay tuned to FanNation Kicks to learn more about what your favorite professional athletes wear on and off the field.
