In late January, New Balance made a major splash in the baseball world. The Boston-based brand announced the signing of Los Angeles two-way player Shohei Ohtani to a long-term deal.

As part of the exciting announcement, the 2x MLB All-Star showed off one of New Balance's most recognizable sneakers that had been converted into performance cleats. After weeks of anticipation, the Fresh Foam New Balance 574 cleats have been released online.

The men's version of the cleats carries a retail price of $120, while the women's style costs $135 on New Balance's website. With baseball and softball seasons starting soon and summer travel ball right around the corner, now is the time to invest in these rare performance cleats.

The Fresh Foam New Balance 574 cleats are inspired by one of the brand's most popular sneakers. However, this performance model is built for elite baseball and softball players. The design team combined classic colors with premium materials.

The diamond-specific, TPU molded plate maximizes traction on turf and natural surfaces. The full-length Fresh Foam midsole also delivers precise cushioning underfoot for a lightweight, smooth ride around the bags.

The Cool Gray upper matches the same comfort and performance New Balance baseball and softball spikes are known for, with the timeless aesthetic of the legendary 574.

When athletes round the bases in these cleats, even their opponents will have to stop and admire the footwear. The Fresh Foam New Balance 574 will not last long on shelves, so be sure to purchase a pair before they inevitably sell out.
