New Balance Celebrates Shohei Ohtani's Historic MVP Award
What a year it has been for New Balance. Over the past few months, Jamal Murray won his first ring, Coco Gauff became a champion, and Shohei Ohtani won his second unanimous American League MVP Award. During what could have been his final season with the Los Angeles Angels, Ohtani set the league on fire.
It all started in January when Ohtani signed his contract with New Balance and put the American-based brand on the global stage. Ohtani starred in New Balance’s first "We Got Now" spot and helped unveil his first custom New Balance glove. Now, fans can celebrate Ohtani's success with limited-edition "Unicorn" shirts available on the New Balance website.
During the season, Ohtani was named an MLB All-Star as both a starting pitcher and designated hitter for his third straight season. On offense, Ohtani hit 44 home runs, 26 doubles, eight triples, snatched 20 stolen bases, and drove in 95 RBIs in 135 games this year. On the mound, Ohtani went 10-5 in 23 starts with a 3.14 ERA and 167 strikeouts in 132 innings.
Baseball fans can expect the winter hot stove to hit unprecedented temperatures as teams chase after Ohtani in free agency. In the meantime, they can stay cool with New Balance's small-batch shirts celebrating the "unicorn."
