Several legendary tennis players are making the most out of the twilight of their professional careers. Meanwhile, a new wave of Gen-Z athletes are making names for themselves in the sport.

Coco Gauff is taking the world by storm with her mix of skill, style, and personality. On Monday, the 20-year-old won her match to advance to her fourth career major quarterfinal appearance.

While Gauff has dominated the competition, her New Balance tennis shoes have shined on the clay courts in Paris. The Boston-based brand made a big investment in Gauff as a teenager, and it is already paying dividends.

New Balance launched Gauff's first signature tennis shoe in July 2022, and the performance model has been well-received among fans and athletes. Below is what fans must know about the shoes.

Throughout the French Open, Gauff has worn the New Balance Coco CG1 in the 'Twisted Net' colorway. The shoes enjoyed a global launch on May 26 and are available for $170 in adult sizes on the New Balance website.

The bold colorway was inspired by the tennis net but with an artistic spin, taking Gauff’s love of social media and warping the net found on a tennis court with cyberspace.

Incorporating flashes of crisp blues and greens, pay tribute to the je ne sais quoi found throughout classic French fashion. The ‘Twisted Net’ colorway is a futuristic, edgy twist to Gauff’s signature shoe.

The model's upper features Fit Weave Lite, which keeps its shape for targeted stretch and support with an extra lightweight feel. Wear and tear are not a concern as the NDure toe guard and NDurance rubber outsole technology provide superior durability in high-wear areas to help get more out of the shoes.

The cushion is provided by FuelCell foam, while Energy Arc pairs sport-specific carbon fiber plate geometry with strategic midsole voids, designed to increase stored energy to deliver a higher amount of total energy returned.

Gauff's work at the French Open is far from finished. But there is no denying that the 20-year-old and her New Balance have officially arrived on the world stage in Paris.
