Nike is Making Special Sneakers for Deion Sanders

Nike has redesigned Deion Sanders' retro sneakers to support the Colorado Buffaloes football coach.

Sports fans never have to look far to find an inspirational story. This is one of the many reasons we love college football season. It is especially sweet when sports overlap with sneakers for a good cause.

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders may rub some the wrong way with his brash demeanor, but his battle against circulatory issues has been heartening for everyone who has followed the saga.

In 2021, Sanders was hospitalized after complications from surgery to repair a dislocated toe. He experienced blood clots and underwent several more surgeries, including the removal of two toes. Before this season, Sanders had a procedure to relieve clots in both of his legs. There was concern at the time he might need to have his left foot amputated.

As anyone with lower-body issues can attest, footwear is everything. That is why Nike has redesigned Sanders' retro sneakers with modern technology to make "Coach Prime" as comfortable as possible when on his feet for long periods at a time on game day.

In a recent Instagram post, Sanders showed off three pairs of his Nike DT React sneakers. The player-exclusive colorways sport different black, gold, and white designs with "PRIME" branding. Most importantly, the cushion has been retooled to utilize a Nike React midsole.

Sanders is a force of nature, and some in the NCAA will consider his trash talk too off-putting ever to be his fan. But as someone who loves a comeback story and a good pair of sneakers, consider FanNationKicks.com Sanders' biggest fan. Stay tuned for all your footwear coverage in the sports world.
