Nike KD 15 Drops in Olympics Gold Medal Colorway

Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant's newest Nike basketball shoe released in an Olympics colorway.
In this story:

Ever since the Dream Team made history in Barcelona, Spain, in 1992, basketball shoes have been released in Olympics-inspired colorways. It is hard to beat a pair of hoop shoes draped in red, white, blue, and gold.

However, most patriotic colorways do not release until the summer and often only during the Summer Olympics. But Kevin Durant has spent his entire career breaking norms, so it's only natural that his signature Nike line goes against the grain as well.

Earlier this week, the Nike KD 15 was released in what fans call the 'Olympics Gold Medal' colorway. Of course, the IOC is litigious, so Nike calls it the metallic gold and university red colorway. Fans can still purchase the shoes for $150 on Nike's website.

A detailed look at the Nike KD 15 / Nike

The Nike KD 15 launched in the spring of 2022 and has enjoyed an incredible run over the last calendar year. Athletes and fans have been treated to a plethora of exciting colorways that stand out on the court.

Not only does the Nike KD 15 look good, but it's a performance beast. Nike's design team stripped down the low-cut performance model to give it a broken-in feel right out of the box.

The shoe features a full-length Cushlon foam that contains a visible Air Zoom Strobel unit to provide a dual layer of cushioning. Meanwhile, traction is provided by an outsole pattern that resembles a topographical map.

There are multiple tributes to Durant's game and personality in every colorway. For example, the word "easy" is molded into the shoe's rubber outsole as a nod to Durant's effortless game. Durant and Nike might make it look easy, but there is nothing straightforward about what the two partners have been able to accomplish on and off the court.
