Patrick Mahomes Announces Texas Tech is Joining Adidas
Pregame outfits are just as important as the action on the field for many fans. Those brief videos of players entering professional sports stadiums on Sundays are even more important to companies wanting to make an impression on fans.
Before Sunday afternoon's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes used his attire to make a major announcement. Mahomes entered Arrowhead Stadium wearing a Texas Tech Red Raiders x adidas outfit.
Adidas let Mahomes break the news that his alma mater is officially teaming up with his apparel sponsor. Adidas will become the official partner of Texas Tech on July 1, 2024. There are no further details at this time, but the official announcement should be made within the next few months.
Texas Tech has been in business with Under Armour since 2006, even signing a four-year, $12.9 million deal contract extension with the Maryland-based brand in July 2020. Today's announcement is more bad news for Under Armour, who has lost schools like UCLA and Cal-Berkeley in recent years. Plus, the brand was never able to see its uniform partnership with MLB come to fruition.
Nevertheless, it is a significant win for adidas and Mahomes. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com to learn more about what your favorite athletes wear on and off the field.
