P.J. Tucker Debuts Nike Book 1 "Texas vs. Kentucky"
Technically, it's April. But March Madness is still going strong for two teams in the men's and women's NCAA Basketball Tournaments. Unfortunately for Los Angeles Clippers forward P.J. Tucker and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, neither of their alma maters made it deep into the tournament.
Yet, that did not stop the two sneaker icons from teaming up on a college-inspired colorway of Booker's first signature sneaker with Nike. On Friday night, Tucker debuted the Nike Book 1 in the "Texas vs. Kentucky" colorway - an homage to the Texas Longhorns and the Kentucky Wildcats.
Tucker's left shoe was almost entirely burnt orange sans punctuated with blue detailing. Meanwhile, his right shoe was royal blue contrasted by orange detailing. As is always the case with player-exclusive colorways, the details are even better the closer you look.
Both sneakers sport orange insoles that highlight the rarity of the colorway. The left insole reads, "Nike | Limited Edition." The right insole reads, "Player-Exclusive. One of One" above the Nike logo. Lastly, "06/15" is printed on the heel tabs, which is likely the number of units manufactured.
Everyone who is familiar with the NBA knows Tucker does not play about his footwear. With all the criticism surrounding Booker's first signature hoop shoe, it is good to see the sneaker legend provide his endorsement of the model. Uninspired colorways have been one of the main critiques of the Nike Book 1, and this helps counter that argument.
With the NCAA Tournament hitting its crescendo and the NBA Playoffs coming up, that could mean even more mind-blowing colorways of the Nike Book 1 on courts around the country. That spells good news for Booker's signature line and the sneaker community. Stay locked into FanNation Kicks for all your sneaker news from the sports world and beyond.
