PUMA Celebrating 50 Years of Hip Hop With Sneaker Drop
Like your favorite artist's flow, time moves fast. Look no further than the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop. PUMA has played an integral role in the genre's history, and the brand is ready to celebrate the quintessentially American art form.
PUMA is launching the Mixtape collection in honor of the 50th anniversary of hip hop with Roc Nation, Paper Planes co-founder Emory Jones, and footwear designer Alexander John. The footwear and apparel collection pays homage to an important piece of hip hop history: the mixtape.
The star of this chart-topping Mixtape collection is the PUMA RS-XL. Three versions of the shoe have been designed around different mixtape formats: cassettes, CDs, and playlists.
Each shoe features an “LGT Tag,” an NFC-powered chip from Legitimate that, once scanned, unlocks a digital portal featuring exclusive content, weekly mixtape drops, and unfettered access to life behind the scenes as a Roc Nation artist. To unlock the exclusive, unreleased music and more from Roc Nation, tap your phone to the tongue of the RS-XL sneaker.
A complementing apparel pack consisting of jackets, tees, and shorts with bold graphics and music-inspired designs will launch alongside the Mixtape collection and must-have pieces for music lovers.
Retailing for $35-$130, the Mixtape collection is available on Friday, July 14, exclusively online and in-store at Foot Locker, Champs Sports, and Champs Sports Canada. Stay locked into FanNation Kicks for all your sneaker coverage.
