With another new basketball season upon us, it means another installment of the legendary signature sneaker line of LeBron James. A lot has changed over the past 21 years, but the league's all-time leading scorer has remained consistent in his output on the hardwood and in the sneaker industry.

With two decades of work in the rearview mirror, Nike continued to build upon its success with the newly released LeBron 21. The second colorway of the performance model to launch celebrates the reign of "King James" in an iconic purple and gold design.

Dubbed the "Freshwater" colorway, there is no mistaking the inspiration behind the newest LeBron 21. The purple and gold color scheme is a direct nod to the Los Angeles Lakers and resembles more of a player-exclusive colorway than a general release. Below is everything athletes and fans must know about the LeBron 21 "Freshwater."

Nike officially launched the LeBron 21 "Freshwater" on October 14, 2023. Online shoppers can purchase the shoes for $200 in adult sizes and $160 in kids' sizes on the Nike website.

James teased the purple and gold kicks earlier this summer, and fans quickly nicknamed the colorway "Purple Rain" or "Purple Reign" as a nod to their namesake. The Violet Dust leather upper is contrasted by University Gold detailing around the shoe. Purple Cosmos detailing on the heel counter and outsole provides the finishing touches to the classic colorway.

Designing a shoe capable of supporting the most powerful player in the NBA is no small task. That is why Nike incorporated a cabling system that works with Zoom Air cushioning for a lightweight, low-profile model. The top-loaded, strong plastic plate in the midfoot provides added stability for cutting on a dime.

It is sure to be another epic season for James and the Lakers. Luckily, basketball fans all over the world continue to enjoy greatness and be witnesses to the reign of "King James." Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your most important sneaker news.
