For years, Tiger Woods struck fear into the hearts of opponents during the final rounds of golf tournaments. Just as the sport grew accustomed to seeing Woods hoist trophies up on Sundays, we were used to seeing him strut around the course in his signature Nike red top and black pants.
Just as all good things must pass, Woods' 27-year partnership with Nike came to an end earlier this month. Now, the entire sports apparel industry is waiting to see where the golf legend will sign next. Could he partner with an established company or launch his own brand?
The question remains to be answered, but there are new clues hinting at where the 48-year-old might land next. According to the social media account @NUCLRGolf, the sports equipment company TaylorMade has filed a trademark for a new lifestyle brand called "SUNDAY RED."
Woods uses TaylorMade clubs while he competes, but the company has a limited apparel selection and virtually no footwear options. Woods has worn FootJoy golf shoes since the 2022 Masters Tournament while remaining in Nike apparel throughout the duration of his contract.
There is no doubt that Woods has the marketing power to make TaylorMade a major player in the golf shoe industry. Or perhaps he could strike a balance between TaylorMade apparel and clubs with a different sneaker brand. There is no shortage of suitors making their case to Woods during his footwear free agency.
While Woods' relationship with Nike is officially over, his apparel and golf shoes are still being sold online. Athletes and fans can shop the Tiger Woods collection while it still lasts on the Nike website.
Woods has won 15 majors and 82 PGA Tour titles, but winning a breakup with Nike would be near the top of his remarkable professional accomplishments. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your footwear news from the sports world.
