The most exciting NBA prospect in a generation is taking over the Big Apple this week. On Tuesday night, Victor Wembanyama threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a New York Yankees game.

Wembanyama is in town for Thursday night's draft and has captured the imagination of the sports world. In addition to gripping the baseball like a grape, the 7'2" French prospect endeared himself to fans by wearing a Joe DiMaggio jersey and unreleased Nike shoes.

Wembanyama wore a pair of the NOCTA x Nike Glide sneakers customized to fit his size 20.5 foot. NOCTA is the budding sublabel created by rapper Drake that specializes in basketball, golf, and lifestyle attire.

Drake debuted the NOCTA x Nike Glide while sitting courtside during the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Inspired by Jason Kidd's Nike Zoom Flight 95 shoes, the lifestyle model pays tribute to technical sneakers of the late 1990s.

The model features a black mesh upper contrasted with white Swoosh logos. Four faux carbon fiber pods on its sides provide a sleek, shortly look. Lastly, Nike branding appears on the eyelets, while NOCTA logos grace the tongue and insoles.

The NOCTA x Nike Glide is expected to release later this year for $160 in adult sizes. In the meantime, fans can shop the NOCTA selection of apparel, sneakers, and accessories on the Nike website.

According to almost every basketball expert, Wembanyama is guaranteed to be a transcendent talent in the NBA. After the San Antonio Spurs select Wembanyama with the first overall pick, we should see a lot more of him wearing black and silver kicks on and off the court.
