Chelsea spent almost £700 million on transfer fees in 2023 only to endure the club's worst year on the pitch since 1993.

The Blues ended 2023 by winning 3-2 at Luton Town on December 30 but this was just their 13th victory in 43 Premier League games during a dismal calendar year.

Chelsea averaged 1.12 points per game in 2023 - their lowest PPG figure in the Premier League in a calendar year since recording 0.95 in 1993.

Twenty of Chelsea's 43 EPL games in 2023 were overseen by manager Mauricio Pochettino, following his appointment in July.

Results have improved since Pochettino took charge.

Chelsea have averaged 1.4 points per game under Pochettino, after picking up just 0.87 PPG in the first 23 league matches of the year - under former bosses Graham Potter, Bruno Saltor and Frank Lampard.

Pochettino's Chelsea will host Fulham in their first Premier League game of 2024 on January 13.
