Mauricio Pochettino Says Chelsea Have Been England's "Greatest Team" Over Last 15 Years... But Is He Right?
Mauricio Pochettino believes that Chelsea have been "the greatest team in England" over the last decade and a half.
Pochettino made this claim during his first interview as Chelsea manager on Monday.
When asked about the importance of history, he told ChelseaFC.com: "I think it's important and it's a culture of winning. In the last 10, 12, 15 years, Chelsea is the greatest team in England."
But is that true?
Many Manchester City fans will likely disagree with Pochettino, after watching their team win the Premier League title in five of the last six seasons.
City completed a remarkable treble last season by adding the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League to their latest EPL crown.
That Champions League triumph was City's first European trophy win since 1970.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have won two Champions Leagues, two Europa Leagues and one UEFA Super Cup in the last 15 years.
Chelsea also won the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup.
In terms of total trophies won since 2008, City have 20 and Chelsea have 15.
But does Chelsea's superior record of success in Europe make Pochettino's statement correct?
Either way, Pochettino will be hoping that he can help Chelsea win plenty of trophies in the coming years.
The former Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham and PSG boss began his managerial career 14 and a half years ago and has won just three trophies since then.
