The Premier League is home to some of the biggest clubs in world soccer.

But what makes a big club?

Some say trophies should be a factor, but surely the main metric to determine the size of any club is how many members it has.

When it comes to professional sports teams, members = fans.

While it is impossible to determine precisely how many fans support each club globally, social media stats can give us a pretty good idea.

After adding up the total number of followers each club currently has on the main three social media platforms - Twitter/X.com, Facebook and Instagram - we can reveal that Manchester United are firmly in first place.

United are followed by 182.6 million users. That is more than the combined following of Tottenham, Aston Villa, West Ham, Everton, Newcastle, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Burnley, Bournemouth, Brentford and Luton.

Chelsea are the second biggest club in the Premier League based on social media following, with 120.8m.

Meanwhile, Manchester City and Liverpool also boast more than 100m followers each.
