Fifty Up For Harry Kane And Son Heung-Min As Tottenham Beat 10-Man Eintracht Frankfurt
Tottenham 3-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
Son Heung-min scored twice as Tottenham came from behind to beat Eintracht Frankfurt and go top of Champions League Group D on Wednesday night.
His two goals came either side of a converted Harry Kane penalty in the first half after Daichi Kamada had fired Frankfurt into an early lead.
Kane assisted Son for Tottenham's equalizer as the dynamic duo linked up for the 50th goal of their deadly partnership.
After a shaky start, Spurs were cruising and the game looked over as a contest on the hour-mark when Frankfurt were reduced to 10 men.
But Tuta's dismissal for two bookable offenses seemed to inspire the German side, who threatened to pull off a dramatic comeback when Faride Alidou headed in from a Mario Gotze corner on 87 minutes.
As Frankfurt pushed forward in search of a leveler, the game became very stretched. Substitute Bryan Gil exploited the extra space to win Spurs a second penalty when he got the better of Hrvoje Smolcic in a one-on-one situation in added time.
Kane's first spot-kick had been sublime but his second was ridiculous as he blazed his shot high over the crossbar.
His miss did not cost Spurs but it could have had Hugo Lloris not held onto a 95th-minute effort from Alidou.
Spurs can confirm their place in the Champions League knockout round by beating Sporting at home on October 26.
