Adam Sandler was spotted at Stamford Bridge on Monday night during Chelsea's 3-2 win over Newcastle United.

The 57-year-old actor watched the game from an executive box.

Sandler posed for a photo for Chelsea's social media team before kick-off. It was posted alongside the caption: "Good evening, @AdamSandler."

This was not Sandler's first Chelsea match. He became a Blues fan back in August 2009 after a spontaneous trip to an away game at Fulham's Craven Cottage.

Chelsea won 2-0 back then thanks to goals from Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

Speaking to a London-based radio station after that match 14 and a half years ago, Sandler said: "My friend opened the newspaper and saw an ad for the game. He said 'do you want to go to a soccer game', I said 'yeah that's a great idea, I've never been to one'.

"So we all went there and they were really nice, we were at Fulham vs Chelsea and it was at an old-style venue. We sat in the Chelsea section and the tunes were rocking!

"I couldn't believe how great everyone was singing, on key. It was rough men singing gently.

"Not a soul saw me, although I stood out a bit. I was the only one not singing and the only one wearing a baseball hat; there wasn't a single baseball hat in the crowd."
