The group stage of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations came to an end on Wednesday.

Eighty-nine goals were scored in total across the 36 group games.

Despite only eight teams getting eliminated from the initial pool of 24, some major nations failed to make it through to the round of 16 - including Ghana, Algeria and Tunisia.

With the group stage over, the remaining 16 teams can now begin to plot their route to the final.

Hosts Ivory Coast will face holders Senegal in the first knockout round, while Nigeria vs Cameroon will be another clash of the titans.
